God’s got this
Not long ago, my friend was facing a serious legal situation that had immense implications for his future. A judge was about to decide if he would be free to change out of his orange jumpsuit or if he would spend decades in prison. He was afraid of 20 years behind bars. Honestly, I was too. I thought he should be set free, but the state of Wisconsin wasn’t asking my opinion.
Just before the verdict, my friend wrote me a letter, updating me on the case as well as how he was holding up under the uncertainty. But on the bottom of his letter, he wrote three words that proved that he wasn’t just sitting and waiting; he was trusting and believing. He wrote, “God’s got this.”
What faith! You, like my friend, might be facing a serious situation that has immense implications for your future—a college application, a job interview, a scan for cancer, an important election, etc. As a Christian, however, you don’t have to twiddle your thumbs or hold your breath. You can trust. You can believe. Like my friend, you can declare with hope: “God’s got this! God can fix this! God can change this! Even if it goes ‘wrong,’ God will use this! My God has got this!”
The famous proverb says it best: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5). Don’t fear, my friend. God’s got this!
