Brenda Skelton


"Engaging Millennials in the Church: Insights from Research on Effective Ministry Models"

Hear Siebert CEO & President Brenda Skelton offer practical ideas for how to engage Millennials more fully in your ministries.  Millennials (aged 19 to 35) represent the largest segment of the U.S. population today.  The future of the Church depends on engagement with and leadership from this generation.  


Brenda Skelton serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Siebert Lutheran Foundation, an independent private foundation based in Brookfield, Wisconsin.   She accepted this role in August, 2013, after having served on the Siebert Board of Directors for seven years.  

Her career prior to joining the Foundation includes: 

• serving as Senior Vice President at Midwest Express Airlines, where she led the marketing function during a 13-year      period of sustained revenue growth

• serving as Vice President of Communications at Northwestern Mutual, with leadership responsibility for the                   Northwestern Mutual Foundation, and 

• managing a successful consulting practice, focusing on assisting nonprofit organizations in improving performance, increasing stakeholder engagement, and building stronger internal teams.  

A native of the Ozark Mountains, Brenda grew up in a rural Southern Baptist church and became ELCA Lutheran through her now-husband, Jim Bendtsen, in 1988.  Brenda and Jim have been married for twenty-seven years, have two young adult daughters, and are members of All Peoples Lutheran Church in the city of Milwaukee.
