About Pastor Dan Schmidt
Pastor Dan Schmidt has served in the inner-city of Detroit for the last 6 years. In that time he’s learned that in order to serve a poverty stricken community you can’t do it alone and it doesn't make sense to reinvent the wheel. By receiving help from the Lutheran Health Alliance he has been able to make connections with community leaders in order to leverage their resources to reach more people with the saving message of Jesus Christ. His bilingual congregation is now able to offer free transportation to children who otherwise wouldn't be able to attend their after school program and other church activities where they hear about Jesus. The congregation is also able to offer free meals to children who often times go without eating for days.
Pastor Schmidt recently took a call to serve at Hope Church in Oconomowoc, WI.
Utilizing Community Resources for Outreach
Church leaders have enough on their plate let alone trying to utilize the community resources that are readily available to them. This session is meant to relieve that overwhelming feeling and help you realize that connecting with your community resources actually saves time in the long run and opens doors for the gospel that you may have never imagined. You’ll also learn to navigate the pitfalls and potential dangers of working with groups that don’t necessarily share your same biblical values and beliefs.
